If you’re a fan of “The Lord of the Rings” movies and cannot wait to see Guillermo del Toro’s “The Hobbit” in two years, the news you’re about to read is going to make you very happy.
The re-building of Hobbiton has begun!
Yes, the village where Bilbo Baggins, Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee live has begun being rebuilt for the upcoming movies. So if you’re interested in seeing what work has been done so far, after the jump are two pictures. I’m sure you want to see them!
The news that Bag End and Hobbiton are being rebuilt comes from the great folks at theonering.net. With production gearing up on “The Hobbit”, I think they’re about to be very busy providing us with news and gossip on the production.
Below you’ll find two images from their story, but for more go to the site. As a HUGE fan of “The Lord of the Rings” movies, you can expect plenty of updates and info on “The Hobbit”. Get ready.

AWESOME. Can’t wait to see it on the big screen
My friends went to New Zealand and did the tours, they have photos of them standing inside Bilbos house doorway. And I’m so glad they are re-using the same sets for Hobbit, this will instill continuity into the LOTR films even if Del Toros style may differ a little.
Looking forward to this film, I hope the battle is bigger than the one in the book, and I hope Smaug takes up more screentime than the 2 pages in the book too.

New Line originally said they didn’t want the LOTR sites to be publicised, to try and maintain the illusion that these places really were in some other world, and not of this Earth. Hobbiton was dismantled (as were Edoras, Helm’s Deep and other sets), leaving only the white plywood facades visible in the photos above. But events overtook the plans, and tours of the site have been available, although it doesn’t look much like it did in the movie. This is about 40 minutes from my home, by the way.
Interesting that this is being built in spite of Peter Jackson’s statement at Comic Con yesterday in San Diego, California that the studio, Warner Brothers, has not given the “Green Light” on the project as yet. He said that he was going to be submitting the script for the two-part treatment in about three weeks, and the financial go-ahead was going to hinge on that. But what the hey …I think it’s great, and I seriously doubt that the studio won’t go ahead with the project.
