Ron Perlman Says ‘It Would be Nice’ to Appear in THE HOBBIT

I had a chance to speak with Ron Perlman today on the set of the FX show “Sons of Anarchy”. He talked about not being interested in what people say on the internet and never reading blogs because he doesn’t want anyone to dictate his own opinion of himself and his craft. It came as a surprise to him (or so it seemed) that rumors are floating around that he will be in Guillermo Del Toro’s “The Hobbit” films, and that the films have been added to his IMDB.com page (albeit listed as “rumored”). Is there any credibility to the rumors? “If that’s what Guillermo wants, then that would be nice”. More after the jump.
Perlman said that he’s only briefly spoken with Del Toro since Hellboy II because they’ve both been so busy, but they remain close friends. Obviously he’s got a few weeks left shooting “Sons of Anarchy”, and Del Toro isn’t quite ready to start shooting “The Hobbit”, so it may be that Perlman just didn’t want to give anything away before the right time. From the looks of it, though, if Del Toro asks Perlman will say yes, and it’s likely that Del Toro will ask, so there’s at least a good fighting chance that we’ll be seeing Ron Perlman in “The Hobbit”.
Obviously I’ll have a ton more from my “Sons of Anarchy” set visit coming very soon, but I thought that tidbit was worth sharing sooner.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO, he will ruin this movie! As a die hard LOTR fan, i forbid Ron Pearlman from even appearing on the set of the movie! Go back to HellBoy
I think he would make a great hobbit or, even better, dward! I can see it!
Not a dwarf…He’d make a perfect Beorn.
He would make a wonderful Tom, Bart, or Bill!
He would not be a good Beord….Javier Bardem would be the perfect Beord!
Ron’s a great actor and I think he’d be a good addition to LotR universe. Especially since he’s used to all the crazy make up that might be required.
RON PERLMAN is one of my favorite actors. He is a master of disguises and I reckon he could play more than 1 role in the same film.
Beorn would be great, So would a dwarf, maybe Gloyn? Also, if a voiceover maybe he could be the voice of Smaug, though i hope the Dragon doesnt talk like he does in the book. And IF he does talk, then i hope its subtle like the voice of Sauron. Perlman does great voicework. Outlander proved he also makes a great viking style warrior too. Now if only he could get cast as Judge Dredd, i would be happy.
I wonder whi will play Bilbo? Ian Holm? Colin Firth? James Macavoy?
RON PERLMAN ROCKS!! I’m sure, he will kick bahookie (*$$) in “The Hobbit!” He can carry practically ANY movie. His eyes, his sexy and hot voice…WOO HOO!!! He’s impressive…
I’m a diehard Ronette/Ronaholic (=Droolaholic!), so of course, I LURVE to watch Ron in new movies. His acting goes WAY beyond any sort of heavy make up! Just remember Vincent: HE takes the gold medal!… Vincent and Hellboy are Ron’s best characters!
I do not think Ron Perlman will ruin The Hobbit, but I do not feel that he is fit for the role of a Hobbit. I am not sure he would be good as Beorn. I would think as one of Thorinn’s company. Perhaps as Kili. As you know, he dies at the Battle of Five Armies.
