MMA Fighter Rampage Jackson Set to Pity Fools as BA Baracus in Joe Carnahan’s A-TEAM

The guy playing the role of Sgt. Bosco A. Baracus is named “Rampage Jackson”. If this doesn’t tell you that Joe Carnahan knows what he’s doing with his adaptation of the 1983 television series, “The A-Team”. You don’t want a name-actor in the role of BA Baracus. The role was made famous by Mr. T. You don’t want an actor with nuance who can get to the core of B.A. You don’t even want to a guy who can “do justice to the role”. You want a guy named “Rampage Jackson”. Hit the jump to learn more about about “Rampage Jackson” and why I’ll never get tired of that name.
According to The Vancouver Sun, MMA fighter Mr. Jackson (“Rampage” to his friends), met with producers to discuss the role on August 19th and then arrived in Vancouver last Friday to begin six weeks of filming. While Jackson will be working as a coach of competing wannabe MMA fighters on the Spike TV reality series “The Ultimate Fighter” starting on September 19th, the Sun notes that the film will cut into his UFC career which I’m sure Mr. Jackson will lament while he’s playing B.A. Baracus in a big-screen adaptation of an “A-Team” movie co-starring Liam Neeson as Hannibal Smith and directed by Joe Carnahan. I think after he’s finished filming, he’ll be able to recover by beating all the shit out of other fighters.
And why is this news so great? Well aside from not having a name actor who overshadows the role and is more faithful to Mr. T who spent ten years as a bouncer-cum-bodyguard, the guy’s name is “Rampage Jackson”. Technically, his name is Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, but I don’t care because my point is this: put the word “Rampage” in front of your last name and see how much better you feel about your life.

This is what happens when we let the bankrupt heathens the Fertittas into MMA.
They’re ruining the sport, and now we have this woman abuser in a mainstream film. Dave Meltzer likes it. He’d of liked a role for Chris Benoit too.
More MMA, less wwe.
kill zuffa, that’s all

I agree, this is a terrific casting – Rampage will bring every bit of his ‘real-life’ toughness to the role, and even the naysayers of his acting abilities have to admit that Mr. T didn’t set the bar very high. After seeing Liam Neeson kick-ass in Taken, and knowing how Carnahan operates, there will be more than enough toughness in the new A-Team.
And please, no WWE performers – action movies like this should be based in the most realistic world possible. The WWE is pure theatrics – UFC is legit. Looking forward to this one!
I’m unsure of this “marriage” but we’ll see how it plays out. I’ve seen Rampage act before and it wasn’t too pretty. As far as “d”’s comment; if it weren’t for the Fertittas and Dana White stepping into MMA then most of this country wouldn’t have the privilege to watch the greatest sport on earth. Granted they have monopolized the sport in this country and that isn’t exactly great… but it hasn’t hindered the sport IMO. I don’t know how you can say they are “ruining” the sport. I’m guessing you’re a Lesnar hater and are still bitter… give the guy a break already! “Kill Zuffa”? You would think that any MMA purist would be happy for the leaps and bounds that the sport has made in the past decade because of Zuffa… it has opened the eyes of many to watch such organizations as Sengoku, Dream, M-1, nameless defunct organizations that can’t follow the UFC model yet attempt to oppose them, and even K1. Anyway, I hope Rampage can pull this off but I’m betting that I don’t make it more than halfway through this movie.
I think Quinton can do well. As someone already stated Mr. T didn’t set the bar that high and I think picking a relative unknown (at least in the acting world) was a good decision.
