Why do people go and see a Chris Columbus picture? The reason will never be, “Because Chris Columbus directed it.” He’s the guy you bring in so he won’t get in the way of being slavishly devoted to putting any artistic imprint on a potentially lucrative franchise. “Harry Potter” was going to get all seven books adapted no matter what and the best anyone can say about Columbus’ contribution to the series is that he set the bar low. “Percy Jackson” is another story and this franchise may be a non-starter because this new teaser is offering us flashes of the story but we know from “Potter” that no matter how good that story is, adaptation matters and it can’t simply be a matter of neat, expensive visuals. Maybe you’ll get a different impression when you watch the new teaser after the jump.

Chris Columbus brings the book to the screen. He doesn’t take the general story and turn it into something it was never supposed to be.
I’m with Matt regarding the first two Potter films. They “worked” but were absolutely nothing special cinematically.
Columbus did do one thing right for Potter: He got the ball rolling with some pretty stellar kids in the roles. Too bad he couldn’t have just been producer all along and not director, but what can one say at this point in time?

Hey, you read, right? Good, but boy you can’t type or write for anything. There are so many things I can call you out on, but you’re freaking out over HAIR. It doesn’t ruin the entire movie, it’s a minor detail, WHO CARES.
Also, pretty shallow judgment if all you like about Percy is that he’s hot. Main characters aren’t always hot, the thing that matters is if they are good actors or if they’re horrible actors, you know like twilight and I won’t even deem that book a capital letter. For one, read up on your dictionary, actually learn something from the books you read. Maybe they’ll teach you how to spell. Also, not to overuse exclaimation marks.
