When you’ve been the number one movie in America and you got there with clever marketing, it was only a matter of time before another movie studio would take aim with a spoof ad.  And that’s exactly what Overture Films has done for “The Men Who Stare At Goats”.  They’ve taken the thirty second “Paranormal Activity” TV commercial and added goats.  Take a look at the spoof after the jump:

Here’s the synopsis:

The Men Who Stare at Goats movie poster.jpgIn this quirky dark comedy inspired by a real life story you will hardly believe is actually true, astonishing revelations about a top-secret wing of the U.S. military come to light when a reporter encounters an enigmatic Special Forces operator on a mind-boggling mission.

Reporter Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor) is in search of his next big story when he encounters Lyn Cassady (George Clooney), a shadowy figure who claims to be part of an experimental U.S. military unit. According to Cassady, the New Earth Army is changing the way wars are fought.

A legion of “Warrior Monks” with unparalleled psychic powers can read the enemy’s thoughts, pass through solid walls, and even kill a goat simply by staring at it. Now, the program’s founder, Bill Django (Jeff Bridges), has gone missing and Cassady’s mission is to find him. Intrigued by his new acquaintance’s far-fetched stories, Bob impulsively decides to accompany him on the search. When the pair tracks Django to a clandestine training camp run by renegade psychic Larry Hooper (Kevin Spacey), the reporter is trapped in the middle of a grudge match between the forces of Django’s New Earth Army and Hooper’s personal militia of super soldiers. In order to survive this wild adventure, Bob will have to outwit an enemy he never thought possible.

The Men Who Stare at Goats was inspired by Jon Ronson’s non-fiction bestseller of the same name, an eye-opening and often hilarious exploration of the government’s attempts to harness paranormal abilities to combat its enemies.

Way better than “paranormal activity” itself, even…

I can’t believe it. I just sat through an ad so I could watch an ad.

Should rightly be titled “The Men Who FUCK Goats”. Coming soon to the military near you.

    Nice work Steve,

Yeah, I feel a bit used watching an ad, to then watch an ad. I haven’t seen the new “Paranormal” movie but did enjoy “The Blair Witch” when it was released (I hear alot of comparisons). I was in over 20 different states last year alone researching and investigating reports of paranormal phenomena. Some of your visitors might enjoy reading all about my crazy real life supernatural adventures in my free Legend Trippers Journal
    (http://www.w-files.com/legendtrippersjournal.html).

For those of you who are a bit more scientifically minded, I just released some level headed scientific method op eds on http://www.GetGhostGear.com with links right on the home page.

With only $15,000 spent on the Paranormal movie they will be happy with their pay checks for sure. I know I’ve spent well over that much researching and investigating mysteries and will be lucky to break even before I die, lol!

    Keep up the good work!
    Noah Voss
