THE TWILIGHT SAGA - NEW MOON Sells the Most Advance Tickets in Fandango’s History

Sorry, Star Wars: Episode III, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, The Dark Knight, and Twilight. With five days remaining until it opens in over 4,000 theaters nationwide, The Twilight Saga: New Moon has become the biggest advance-seller in history for the online movie ticket seller, Fandango.com. The tickets went on sale starting on August 31st and while midnight showings across the country are sold out, theaters are continually adding new screens for the film which means new tickets are becoming available.
This is interesting as far as the box office is concerned because there’s the possibility it could determine whether or not Summit, the studio behind The Twlight Saga, will go ahead with Breaking Dawn, the final book in the series and the one with the most mixed reception among fans. With a strong enough weekend opening, we may be hearing on November 23rd that Breaking Dawn is a go. However, with such massive advance sales, I’m curious to how much New Moon could rake in. Openly almost a year to the day of Twlight, it should beat the first film’s opening take of $69 million but by how much? I’m horrible at predicting box office but I think it will gross overtake Half-Blood Prince’s take of $77 million but not break the $100 million mark. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has the year’s highest opening weekend with $108 million.

Hahahaha!!! I honestly think there is NO comparison to the number of fans for the Twilight Saga versus Transformers. Most fans are going to see New Moon AT LEAST twice this weekend…myself included! The midnight showing will be filled with screaming, and I want to watch it Friday morning while all the girlies are in school. :D. I won’t be surpirsed if New Moon surpases Transformers by a long shot… I’d estimates 120 mil??? Not that I’m an expert…. Lol
I cannot wait for NEW MOON, I already got my tickets for the 12:01am show on Thursday, in the mean time I am getting my Edward fix by looking at these hot images. He is so gorgeous, ahhh I can’t wait to see the film!!

@DazzledByEdward We are going to see it Fri morning when the younglings are in school too! We plan to see it 2x the first weekend and possibly twice more Thanksgiving weekend. DieHard TwiHards! Hope New Moon exceeds everyone’s expectations!
i hope it overtakes harry potter, not a real fan of those movies or books. I will definitely see this movie more than once, including the midnight showing thursday! i can’t wait, and my only fear is that i’ve seen too much in the previews.
This book is my personal favorite! (though I don’t like the artistic license the director took and removed the mummy character’s subplot from the book - for shame) I hope no one New Moons the screen because of it if you know what I mean my TwiPosse!!
I plan on seeing it at 3:28AM when the younglings are in beddy-bye and I have had my eighth “Twilight Cocktail” (Red Bull and Milk - yummers!) I also plan to see it twice this weekend and maybe another 3 times over the Arbor Day holiday weekend! I am totally hoping this uses the Dark side of the Force and crushes Star Wars! Goes all Golem on Frodo! And Voldemorts the heck out of Hermione and her mudblood-self. Can I get a “what-what” from my TwiHards!?!? Hell yeah!
Good God…
I think New Moon will do okay, but I don’t think it can beat Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. I don’t think the fan boys will go out and see it. It probably can’t beat Harry Potter either.
Last time I checked I was afraid of vampires and NOT wizards and dumb head robots and I am sure all my TwiHards that plan on seeing it when the younglings are at school will completely agree with me that this movie is going to be the New Moon over the box office this weekend and the coming weekends. I mean I have you seen Taylor Lautner’s portrayal of Charlie Swan? the head of the Voluri - The werewolves council? This thing is going to be AWEsome! Am I right TwiHards (both younglings and not)?!?!??!
