Matt Struggles to Describe the New INCEPTION Trailer

I was at a press screening tonight for Sherlock Holmes and before the film I saw the trailer for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming flick Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.  Knowing that this trailer wouldn’t hit online until the end of the week, I broke out my notebook so I could quickly scribble down what happens in it.  After watching five seconds of the trailer, it became apparent that trying to transcribe the events was pointless because I had absolutely no idea what was going on.

The trailer begins with a voiceover of DiCaprio talking about the power of an idea and then the climax of his voiceover is him saying something like, “That’s why I have to steal it.”  Then a bunch of stuff happens and while I can’t tell you what any of it meant, I will say that it looks pretty cool.  The moment that stuck in my mind was a city block rolling up like it was a piece of carpet and all the buildings just going along with it.

So to conclude: visually impressive, no idea what the fuck it’s about, good job Warner Bros. on keeping this close to the vest, and Inception hits theaters on July 16, 2010.
