It looks like Jack Sparrow is going to be showing some love to Papa Sparrow as The Playlist is reporting that Johnny Depp will be directing a documentary about the life of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards.  Depp, whose last film was 1997’s The Brave, tells the European Media:

“Now that I’m wiser, and that enough time has passed, I can experience directing again.  Already next week I’ll start working on a Keith Richards documentary. While I’m in Drvengrad, my editor is already working on kilometers of archive footage and footage of his concerts. I’m very touched that Keith agreed to show up in front of my cameras.”

I’m curious to see if Depp’s documentary will focus on Richards’ entire life or turn its attention to some key moments in the musician’s career.  I hope Depp addresses Richards’ chronic case of being unable to die.

lol chronic case of being unable to die. He does look like a skeleton doesn't he, I guess being rich really advances your life expectancy.

Documentaries are too easy, and from the sounds of it Depp has someone else doing the heavy lifting, with him so famous and easy to confront I can see how he can gain access to other celebrities where others couldn't but until he directs a new film involving storytelling it is a little stale.

I think Depp could do some amazing work with directing if he put his mind to it, so that would be awesome if he directed some fiction.

He's already started filming it at the Los Angeles theater downtown. There were some pictures over the weekend.
