Katherine Heigl Counts ONE FOR THE MONEY

Katherine Heigl plus a best-selling book series plus a character who is a lingerie buyer/bounty hunter adds up to a very promising prospect for Columbia Pictures and Lakeshore Entertainment.  According to Variety, the Grey’s Anatomy star is attached to play the role of Stephanie Plum in the adaptation of Janet Evanovich’s One for the Money.  The book spent 75 consecutive weeks on USA Today’s best seller list and has spawned 15 novels, each of which have a number theme.

While she has yet to make a smash box office hit stateside (Knocked Up’s success is generally attributed to Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow), Heigl’s romantic comedies have done well proportional to their budgets.  Her most recent film, The Ugly Truth, grossed $205 million worldwide off a $38 million budget.  This was a much greater succcess than her 2006 film, Zyzzyx Road, which cost $2 million but only made $30.  That’s $30.00, not $30 million.

Heigl will next appear alongside Ashton Kutcher in the action-comedy Killers, which is set to hit theaters on June 4th.

      HAHAHA Katherine Heigl playing Stephanie Plum is a JOKE. They should cancel this movie before it starts fliming or One For The Money is going to get added to the long list of books that have been murdered by the movie. poor Janet must be crying.

      I totally agree Alicia. Both Bullock and Monique were my choices! I cannot picture Heigl as Stephanie. And i dont like who the case as Morelli. Who is doing the casting?

      if you know the books this movie is based on...then you will seriously be sick to your stomache that Katherine Heigl is playing the main character.

      I have read every book. It is hard for me to see her as playing stephanie. I have always pictured sandra bullock as stephanie. Hopefully they can get Mo'Nique for Lola!

      Wow I always thought Sandra Bullock as stephanie and the Rock as Ranger. Then I know Nicholas Cage is probably too old for Morelli but I think they need to find someone similar

      Heigl is already a big star Corin - you can't get much bigger - she is the worlds 4th highest paid actress earning $24 million from her movies last year alone. There are very few bigger female stars in the world than her right now. Zyzzyx Road was an indie movie never intended for a cinema release only for DVD but was released in one cinema without any promotion for SAG accreditation. Knocked Up's success was just as attributable to Heigl than Rogen for sure and The Ugly Truth's total box office is only a few million below that of Knocked Up and it crushed Funny People Apatow / Rogen's most recent effort which was released the same week.

      $30 ? Seriously, what did they do release it at a theater in some Indian village and forget to let anyone at the theater know it was playing? Pathetic.

      I think Heigl is a decent actress, and she is really hot. She'd better get her game on because pretty soon shes going to be too old to be becoming a real big star.
