I loved the HBO show Rome. The show had everything that you could have hoped for. Battle scenes, political backstabbing, tons of sex and violence, and I mean a ton of sex and violence. But you want to know what the best part of the show was? It felt real. The locations, the sets, the effects, and the acting, everything was just top notch. And as good as I think HBO shows are, this one was a step above. Yes you can argue that the show had a huge budget, and it was made in conjunction with the BBC, so it should be all of those things. But many shows have big budgets and they flop. Rome was just an amazing ride, and if you never got a chance to see it while it was on, I strongly recommend renting or buying this show.

Now for some good news for all of you who were as captivated as me while watching Rome. HBO just announced that they have commenced work on season two, with a goal of getting the show on sometime in 2007. Yeah I know that is a long wait, but I would rather wait for greatness than rush for mediocrity. The only bad news is season two is only going to be 10 episodes instead of 12, like in season one.

And with that, here is the art on Rome and a few other things. Overall it was a quiet week.

But now, those foundations are crumbling, eaten away by corruption and excess. After eight years of war, two soldiers, Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo unwittingly become entwined in the historical events of ancient Rome.
