Disney's Home Entertainment Division has divulged their plans for keeping fan's wallets empty through 2010. The studio that has perhaps best utilized the 'Special' and 'Collector' editions of DVDs since their ascendancy a few short years ago now has another excuse to re-release some of their best loved animated titles – The all-important Blu-ray Edition.

Sure, your nephews and nieces may already own two copies of "Beauty and the Beast," but they don't have it in the superior Blu-ray format do they? And after all, doesn't your family deserve the very best?

According to the Disney press release, here is what you can expect in the next few years from the studio's vaulted Platinum Edition series:

Five films will be available for the first time ever in the Hi-Def Blu-ray format, including "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Pinocchio," "Fantasia," "Fantasia 2000" and "Beauty and the Beast."

In addition, all five titles will include the new BD-Live Network – an interactive Xbox Live-esque feature that will initially launch stateside with Disney's October 7th release "Sleeping Beauty 50th Anniversary Platinum Edition." Future titles will have global BD-Live access – that way if you want to take mushrooms and watch "Fantasia," you can now do so while also discussing how trippy everything is with some guy in Spain. Cool.

Here is the release schedule provided by Disney:

Pinocchio - Spring 2009

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – Fall 2009

Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 – 2010

Beauty and the Beast – Fall 2010

One more interesting tidbit was revealed – the release of both "Fantasia" films will come in conjunction with the first ever release of an unfinished work done by Walt Disney in collaboration with Salvador Dali (!) Begun in 1946, the animated film "Destino" will become available to own for the first time in 2010, apparently as part of the "Fantasia" experience – and you thought "Fantasia" was surreal enough just the way it was.
