So where am I going with this? Early this morning I did the press day for Jonathan Kasdan’s first movie In the Land of Women.

The film has taken an interesting road to finally make it to your local theater. When the film was greenlit it was actually Warner Bros. Independent that pulled the trigger and said yes. Then their big brother, Warner Bros., stepped in and said we want to release this and instead of playing at a local art house or even going out via limited release, the film is now opening up on more than 2,000 screens.

While I’m hoping to transcribe Adam Brody’s roundtable interview, I wanted to get the audio files up immediately for those who want to hear them now.

He talks about growing up as the son of Lawrence Kasdan and what that was like. He also describes being the baby in the bathtub in The Big Chill. Jonathan also has a lot to say about making his first film.

The other person who I got to interview was Adam Brody and if you’d like to listen to it click here. It was interesting hearing Adam talk about the film as he shot it while he was knee deep in The O.C. two seasons ago. The vibe I got was he had hoped the film would’ve been out by now and it could’ve been a good stepping stone to other movie parts. While he’s been in a bunch of films playing small roles, his work for In the Land of Women is his first time as the lead.

The main thing I took away from hearing him talk is that he’s looking forward to doing more movies and is searching for a big film to attach himself to. He mentioned he’s looking forward to being in a movie that has a teaser trailer as well as a real trailer. Same for the posters. As I have already said, I should have Adam’s transcription up soon so if you’d rather wait for this interview give me a day or two.

For as long as he could remember, Carter Webb (ADAM BRODY) had been falling in love with women. And for as long as he could remember, he’d been searching for the right one. He found everything he was looking for in Sophia (ELENA ANAYA) and for a little while he was happy. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.

When Carter is dumped by Sophia in a North Hollywood coffee shop, he sees his entire life flash before his eyes. Heartbroken and depressed, Carter escapes Los Angeles, heading across the country to suburban Michigan to care for his ailing grandmother (OLYMPIA DUKAKIS).  An eccentric and complicated personality, Grandma offers Carter a uniquely different perspective on life and especially death.

Soon after his arrival, Carter stumbles into the lives of the family living directly across the street, Sarah Hardwicke (MEG RYAN), the mother of two daughters: Paige (MAKENZIE VEGA), a precocious, effervescent eleven-year-old and her older sister Lucy (KRISTEN STEWART), an angst-ridden teenager. While Sarah faces her own personal crisis, Lucy wrestles with the fears that define her. Through his relationships with these women, as well as his grandmother, Carter begins to discover that what felt like the end was really only just the beginning of his adventure....
