Will Ferrell has finally committed to starring in Vince Gilligan’s “Two Face”. This is not, thankfully, a comic take off on the nefarious Batman villain, but is about a racist who, after a poorly executed prank, develops a split personality.
It took Ferrell three years to decide whether or not he wanted to make the film, but a producer has been attached (Mark Johnson) and it looks to be a go. Gilligan wrote “Hancock”, which was a huge 4th of July opener for Sony, and Will Ferrell is a box office cash cow, so that’s good news for Sony all around.
No matter how much I think his movies are all the same (Will Ferrell plays a misogynistic guy with a niche [TV Anchor, NASCAR racer, Ice Skater, ABA Basketball Player...] who gets himself in a pickle and worms his way out of it), Will Ferrell is one of the most likeable actors working today. He’s a genuinely funny person, and he can go on playing whoever and whatever he wants, and I’ll probably enjoy it. I would say look for this movie sometime in early 2009, after the “Sherlock Holmes” movie (but not the Robert Downey, Jr. one).
