Rumors of a third "Ghostbusters" and/or a "Ghostbusters" remake have been floating around for over a decade but really built up some steam at this year's Comic-Con when the highly-touted "Ghostbusters" video game -- one that would have reunited the original cast's voices over CGI renderings -- was suddenly MIA.

The immediate rumor was that the project was scrapped/delayed to make way for a third theatrical film; one being prepared by the Apatow crew and featuring a new team of professional paranormal eliminators. But Sony seemed to shoot down the rumors and say they had nothing like that planned.

Either they were lying or internet fandom gave them a really great idea because Hollywood Reporter says that the project has been given two writers: Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky of (American) "The Office" fame. It goes on to say that the original creators are being talked to and that Harold Ramis had already thrown his support forward and EOnline just got Dan Aykroyd saying he'd theoretically love to be a part. No offense to Ernie Hudson, but of course he'd say yes. (If there's a steady paycheck in it, he'll do anything you say.)

That just leaves Bill Murray who will be -- of course -- the real trick. I'd really, really like to see the cast come back together and pass along the Ghostbusting torch so let's hope Murray's willing. He was, apparently, in for the video game, so there's hope.
