Zack Snyder says Theatrical Release of WATCHMEN Director’s Cut is Still Happening

Yesterday I was in Las Vegas attending ShoWest. Since ShoWest is a very important part of the entertainment industry, many of the biggest names in Hollywood were there accepting awards in person.

 

One of them was director Zack Snyder.

 

So before Zack got on stage to thank everyone, he did some press and I was fortunate to ask him a question.

 

As you might remember during the “Watchmen” junket a few months back, Zack announced a plan to release the director’s cut of “Watchmen” this July in a very limited run - maybe in New York and Los Angeles.

 

Since the movie didn’t do as well theatrically as all of us expected, many have wondered if that meant the theatrical run of the director’s cut might be called off. According to Zack, that isn’t the case and the plan is still to do a limited run.

 

Of course July is far off and who knows what will happen, but I’m glad it's still on the drawing board as I REALLY want to see the director’s cut on a movie screen and not in my living room.

 

But, while the theatrical cut of “Watchmen” was released in IMAX, don’t expect an IMAX version of the director’s cut. Zack told us the movie barely fit on the IMAX projector as a 2hr 40 minute film, so it’ll never fit as a 3hr 10 minute release.

thanks man but i live in india i will catch it on dvd though i loved the movie and wanted to see the deleted scenes like mollis mason"s death scene and all other stuff thanks steve...
