Leonard Nimoy Exclusive Video Interview – STAR TREK

Written by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub

One of my earliest memories of watching television was at my grandmother’s apartment in Brooklyn. I vividly remember sitting near the edge of the couch, with my father nearby, as we watched a show I could only sort of understand. But my dad was interested in watching, and when you’re a little kid, that’s good enough.

As you can probably guess, the show was “Star Trek”, and since then, it’s always been a part of my life.

While I wouldn’t consider myself a Trekkie, I know the different races of the “Trek” universe, and I’ve watched enough episodes of the TV shows to know I’m more than a casual fan.

So when I found out that Leonard Nimoy was going to attend the recent “Star Trek” junket, and that I’d actually get some time with him on camera, you could say I was excited.

After all, this was someone I’d been watching most of my life, and to be able to ask him a few questions was easily the highlight of my day.

And I have to admit, while I’m usually composed and very prepared for every interview I do, as you watch the interview, notice my smile. That’s because I was in nerd nirvana…

And while I was quite nervous that I’d ask a bad question or do something stupid, thankfully I kept my composure and he couldn’t have been nicer. Perhaps it helped that he grew up in the same area that I did, and we spent our first few minutes bounding over our New England heritage.

But enough of my rambling…let’s get to why you’re here….my interview with the original Spock – Leonard Nimoy!

During our extended interview, we talked about “Star Trek”, “Fringe”, premiering the film in Texas, growing up in New England, and I asked him what he thought of the film. It’s a great interview that I’m super excited to share with you all.

Finally, as I’ve said many times, I absolutely loved director J.J. Abrams reboot of “Star Trek”. And he did it without whales and an even number! Seriously, it’s a GREAT movie and one absolutely worth your money. Cannot recommend the film enough.

And over the past few days I’ve posted a number of video interviews with the cast of “Star Trek”. Here’s a few links: Simon Pegg, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, Eric Bana, Bruce Greenwood, Karl Urban and Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Anton Yelchin, and J.J. Abrams.

And I’ve joined the ever growing world of Twitter.

Leonard Nimoy

·         We talk about Sharon Massachusetts and how he used to spend summers there

·         We talk about the Omni Theater in Boston and how he did the voice in the theater

·         I ask what was it like to get the phone call saying they wanted him in the new movie

·         What was it like to premiere the movie in Austin, Texas

·         What was it like to go back and play Spock again

·         We talk about Fringe and how he’s playing William Bell – says he’s agreed to do 2 more episodes next season and then they’ll see how it goes

·         I ask about doing a voice for Transformers 2
