A few days ago I got to attend the press junket for the upcoming Will Ferrell basketball comedy “Semi Pro.” If you haven’t heard of the film yet, Will plays Jackie Moon, a one-hit wonder who used the profits from the success of his chart-topping song “Love Me Sexy” to achieve his dream of owning a basketball team. But Will’s franchise, the Flint Michigan Tropics, is the worst team in the league and in danger of folding when the ABA announces its plans to merge with the NBA. If they want to survive, Jackie (Will) and the Tropics must now do the seemingly impossible – win. The film has a great cast with Woody Harrelson, Andre Benjamin, Maura Tierney, Will Arnett, Andy Richter, Rob Corddry and Jackie Earle Haley all playing supporting roles.

Anyway, I got to interview a number of people in the movie and the one below is with Woody Harrelson.

As some of you might remember, I broke the story that John Singleton wants Woody to play Murdock in “The A-Team” movie. Since I posted the story, I’ve seen Woody twice (at Sundance) and both times I couldn’t talk to him about the news. So when I found out that he was going to do the press day for “Semi-Pro,” well you know what I wanted to ask about.

Before the interview officially started, I mentioned to Woody that I broke the story. After all, it’s not too often you land big casting info and then get to interview the person on camera.

So after I told him the news, we had a great exchange and he told me he read the story and was really surprised that John told me the info. I mentioned that during the interview I was going to bring up “A-Team,” but as soon as we started talking with the cameras rolling he actually went back to it. Needless to say, I didn’t mind starting the interview talking “A-Team.”
