I don’t know how you all felt about “Pride and Prejudice,” but I absolutely love the movie. It’s one of those films that if it’s comes on cable and I’m in front of the TV… it’s over. What can I say…I’m a heterosexual guy and I fell in love with a chick flick. But even as a movie fan, the film has it going on - great camera set-ups, a cast that shines on the screen, and of course the story….
So when “Atonement” was announced and I found out that Keira Knightley would be teaming up with her “Pride” director Joe Wright, needless to say I was looking forward to seeing the film.
Well the glowing reviews are starting to pour in as “Atonement” has played in the Venice Film Festival and it will soon be playing in Toronto. And if you happen to live in the United Kingdom, “Atonement” is opening this Friday.
So unlike your American friends who have to wait until December to see it, you get to watch the film this weekend. F you all.
But even though we have to wait a few months to see the movie… I managed to land some clips from the movie and they’re posted below. And for those who don’t know the story…
“Atonement” is based on Ian McEwan’s best selling novel “Atonement” and it’s directed by Joe Wright and produced by Paul Webster, the director/producer team behind award-winning “Pride & Prejudice.”
In the summer of 1935, thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis sees her older sister Cecilia (Keira Knightley) strip off her clothes and plunge into the fountain in the garden of their country house. Watching Cecilia is their housekeeper's son Robbie Turner (James McAvoy), a childhood friend. By the end of that day the lives of all three will have been changed forever. Robbie and Cecilia will have crossed a boundary they had never before dared to approach and will have become victims of the younger girl's scheming imagination, and Briony will have committed a dreadful crime, the guilt for which will colour her entire life.
Finally, if you missed the video featurette’s that I already posted click here. “Atonement” opens this Friday in the UK and in December here in the states.
