New Posters for X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE and STATE OF PLAY

Today we have two new posters.  One is the French one-sheet for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine".  In it, you can see that Logan was planning some fun out-door activities but the gathering storm clouds means he'll have to play inside.  This makes Logan unhappy.  At least it's better than another "Hey!  Wolverine has claws!" poster.

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" hits theatres on May 1st (or April 29th if you live in France).

The other poster is for the upcoming adaptation of the British mini-series "State of Play".  On the one hand, there's nothing really worth liking about this poster.  It's basically just floating heads but divided up with lines.  On the other hand, I don't know how you sell this film on a poster other than with its cast.  It's just a very complex story and I'm already curious how they plan to boil it down from six hours to two.  I'm certainly excited for the film; I just wish the poster wasn't so bland.

For those just tuning in, here's a brief synopsis about "State of Play": Handsome, unflappable U.S. Congressman Stephen Collins is the future of his political party: an honorable appointee who serves as the chairman of a committee overseeing defense spending. All eyes are upon the rising star to be his party's contender for the upcoming presidential race. Until his research assistant/mistress is brutally murdered and buried secrets come tumbling out.

D.C. reporter Cal McCaffrey has the dubious fortune of both an old friendship with Collins and a ruthless editor, Cameron, who has assigned him to investigate. As he and partner Della try to uncover the killer's identity, McCaffrey steps into a cover-up that threatens to shake the nation's power structures. And in a town of spin-doctors and wealthy politicos, he will discover one truth: when billions are at stake, no one's integrity, love or life is ever safe.

How do you put that on a poster, especially when none of the characters have adamantium claws?

"State of Play" hits theatres on April 17th.
