One of the many, many, MANY flaws of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" is that it's hardly Wolverine's backstory as much as it's Deadpool's.  The film put more effort in trying to show how pretty-boy Wade Wilson became the disfigured Deadpool than it did into why Wolverine lost his memory (never forget: adamantium bullets).  It was always a bit of a weird choice to have someone as handsome as Reynolds play Deadpool but does make sense when you consider Deadpool's nickname, "The Merc with a Mouth" and Reynolds, to his credit, carried that part of the character beautifully...before they sewed his mouth shut and shoved katanas in his arms.

Now Fox is, unsurprisingly, trying to give Deadpool his own movie.  Of course, there are the questions of whether this would take place before or after "Wolverine", if the studio, in its infinite wisdom would want to make sure we all go to see Reynolds' pretty face, and if they would embrace the character's humor and propensity to break the fourth wall.

I'm already infuriated over this flick because I know Fox is going to absolutely ruin it.  A superhero flick that has strong action but breaks the fourth wall and riffs on the conventions of the genre and perhaps even big Hollywood blockbusters could be an unforgettable flick especially with a creative screenwriter and director at work.  But Fox won't do that.  They'll try to sap Reynolds of his charisma, show him just as a pretty boy, and make sure that all the dumb pointless action scenes only serve to give retards a violence boner.
