Warner Bros. Shuffles Back Its Release Calendar
5/7/2009

Box Office Mojo is reporting some interesting changes in Warner Bros' release calendar.  First off, Martin Campbell's "Green Lantern" is getting an additional six months and has stepped away from its December 17, 2010 release date to compete with the other superheroes in the summer by taking the date of June 17, 2011 (Summer 2011 is also when "Spider-Man 4", "Thor", and "Captain America" are scheduled to hit theatres).

Mr. Zack Snyder is also bouncing back as "Sucker Punch" moves from October 2010 to Snyder's comfortable March release zone, specifically, March 25, 2011.  Its unknown whether or not WB thinks the film will have a better chance of success at this date or if it’s a way to deal with all the scheduling issues of its ensemble cast.

Finally, Warner Bros. is marking debuts for two of its sequels.  First, "Happy Feet 2 in 3D" will dance its way into theatres on November 18, 2011.  Also, in a slightly confusing announcement, "A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas" is slated to hit theatres on November 5, 2010.  I say that's confusing because I was under the impression that Kal Penn was taking a break from acting to work in the Obama administration and that John Cho had signed on to the pilot for "Flash Forward".  Does this mean that WB is going to re-cast the roles or is a third "Harold & Kumar" movie with the original stars hitting theatres in November 2010 just wishful thinking on their part (and ours)?
