Abel Ferrara Draws Up Competing Jekyll & Hyde Project Starring Forest Whitaker and 50 Cent

Last week we learned that Keanu Reeves would be starring in Nicolas Winding Refn's ("Pusher" trilogy, "Bronson") modern-day retelling of Robert Louis Stevenson's "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" appropriately titled "Jekyll".  But since audiences demand more stories about the duality of man rooted in classic literature, Abel Ferrara is throwing down with one of the most bizarre acting pairings to date by creating "Jekyll and Hyde" starring Forest Whitaker and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.

I don't know who in Hollywood sees this but this would be the SECOND time someone thought that Mr. Whitaker and Mr. Cent were the same person as Cent was on board Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables" for all of five minutes in replacing Whitaker before the Internet revolted and Stallone recast the role with the infinitely more talented Terry Crews.

And that's the weird thing: I guess you could say that Whitaker and Cent were similar if one had absolutely no acting ability.  Despite what you may think about his rapping skills, Fitty doesn't share the presence of his raptor contemporaries like Mos Def, Common, or hell, even Snoop Dogg who at least has charisma.  50 Cent is very good at scowling and making a "Who farted?" face.  But apparently Mr. Ferrara sees a kindred spirit between Cent and Whitaker.  If I were Whitaker I would be insulted but I'd be really classy about it because I'm awesome (not me; me-as-Whitaker; Whitaker is awesome).
