Opening up in limited release on October 5th and everywhere on October 12th is “Michael Clayton,” the first feature film written and directed by Tony Gilroy – who previously wrote “The Bourne Identity,” “The Devil’s Advocate” and “The Bourne Supremacy.”
And while most directors are hard pressed to land a big actor in a first feature, “Michael Clayton” is loaded with people like George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton and Sydney Pollack. Needless to say, their involvement made an already great script that much better.
So to help promote the upcoming release, Warner Bros. has provided me with 8 movie clips which you can watch below. And to get you ready, here’s the synopsis:
Michael Clayton (GEORGE CLOONEY) is an in-house “fixer” at one of the largest corporate law firms in New York. A former criminal prosecutor, Clayton takes care of Kenner, Bach & Ledeen’s dirtiest work at the behest of the firm’s co-founder Marty Bach (SYDNEY POLLACK). Though burned out and hardly content with his job, his divorce, a failed business venture and mounting debt have left Clayton inextricably tied to the firm.
At U/North, meanwhile, the career of litigator Karen Crowder (TILDA SWINTON) rests on the multi-million dollar settlement of a class action suit that Clayton’s firm is leading to a seemingly successful conclusion. But when Kenner Bach’s brilliant and guilt-ridden attorney Arthur Edens (TOM WILKINSON) sabotages the U/North case, Clayton faces the biggest challenge of his career and his life.
The film is written and directed by Tony Gilroy (“The Bourne Identity,” “The Devil’s Advocate,” “The Bourne Supremacy”). Sydney Pollack, Jennifer Fox, Steven Samuels and Kerry Orent serve as producers, with Steven Soderbergh, George Clooney, James Holt and Anthony Minghella serving as executive producers.
