Opening on Friday, December 21st is the new Mike Nichols movie “Charlie Wilson’s War.” The film stars Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman and it tells the outrageous true story of how one congressman who loved a good time, one Houston socialite who loved a good cause and one CIA agent who loved a good fight conspired to bring about the largest covert operation in history. The movie was written by one of the best writers working in the entire industry… Aaron Sorkin.
Anyway, this is another movie I managed to see recently and while I don't think it’s going to get that Best Picture nomination that Universal was hoping for, it could easily get a supporting actor nod for Philip Seymour Hoffman as he steals the entire movie. Between this and "The Savages," I don't think there is a role he can't do.
