With this being a kind of slow news week, it’s nice to find a good story to run… especially when it concerns “Speed Racer” and “G.I. Joe.”
According to the gsamusic.com website, which is the Gorfaine Schwartz Agency, it seems that both “Speed Racer” and “G.I. Joe” have found composers.
For the Wachowski Brother’s “Speed Racer,” it seems that they’ve landed Michael Giacchino to do the music. Michael is best known for his incredible work on “Lost,” and he’s also done a few movies like “The Incredibles” and “Ratatouille.” Personally, I think Michael is one of the best composer’s working in the business and I’m ecstatic that he’s on board “Speed Racer.”
For Paramount Pictures “G.I. Joe” movie, it looks like Alan Silvestri has landed the gig. To be honest, I should have seen this coming as Alan has a long relationship with Stephen Sommers. If you look at his IMDB resume you can see he previously scored “Van Helsing,” “The Mummy Returns,” and has been working steadily in the industry for over two decades. In fact, he previously did the “Back to the Future” trilogy so I’ll always give him a free pass. The more I think about it… the more I wonder if the music might be the best part of the “Joe” movie…
