TONS of Photos from the UNDER THE INFLUENCE - A Tribute to Stan Lee

Back in July of last year I covered the opening of “Crazy 4 Cult,” which was an event hosted by Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier at an art gallery called Gallery 1988 here in Los Angeles. Unlike most art shows which have one artist showing his or her selected works, the show “Crazy 4 Cult” was a lot of different artists creating works for a certain theme – pop cult films. In case you missed the original posting - which you can see here – the art focused on “Shawn Of The Dead,” “Reservoir Dogs,” the Kevin Smith movies, “Donnie Darko” and a ton of other cult classics. As you can see from the pictures in the link, it was a really cool show and it had a lot of great art.
So you may be asking yourself ‘how does that connect to this new article?’ Well the same gallery that held “Crazy 4 Cult” opened a new exhibit tonight called “Under the Influence: A Tribute to Stan Lee.” So I’m sure you can guess the theme from the title… but if you can’t…100 artists have created original work depicting their favorite comic book characters.
Since many of you don’t live in Los Angeles, I went down to the gallery and took a ton of photos. While I didn’t get everything there, I did get a lot more than last time.
And if you live in Los Angeles and want to check out the gallery in person, you can go to http://gallery1988.com for more info. The gallery is at 7020 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90038. (323) 937-7088
The show opened tonight and it goes through February 1st. The best part is that it’s free to get in.
And with that… enjoy the photos.
