Director Michael Bay is the Star of a New Verizon FiOS Commercial

I love when people are willing to poke fun at themselves, and in this new Verizon FiOS ad, Michael Bay does just that.

In case you don’t know Michael Bay, he’s the director of “Transformers,” “Armageddon,” “Bad Boys 2,” “The Rock” and a number of other big budget films. While I’m a huge fan of his work, he’s always the target of critics who say that he’s not good with characters, but his explosions are great.

So if you were to put Michael Bay in a commercial, what would you expect? If you answered explosions….you’d be right.

Anyway, I was told that Michael didn’t direct the ad, he just starred in it. However, whoever wrote this ad did a great job. And I love the robot outside the house. It's a great touch.

And just to give a plug to Verizon because I think what they’re selling is awesome (watch the commercial), the campaign is for their new FiOS fiber optic service that I wish was in my neighborhood. The reason is, for the same price as cable or DSL, you can get infinitely more bandwidth. The only negative is that you have to do a huge multi hour installation, but once it’s done, the internet is like driving on the highway and you’re the only car. I have a friend with the service and all he does is rave. Anyway, if you can get the service, absolutely sign up.

And with that, here’s the commercial. It premieres on TV this Sunday.
