Spike Jonze Comments on Where the Wild Things Are Leaked Clip
2/20/2008

A few days ago, a short video leaked online for the movie “Where the Wild Things Are.” And since the video hit the net, people have been wondering about the footage. Most thought it was early test footage, or possibly even fan created.

With the way the video spread across the net like a fire, it’s no surprise that Warner Bros. would have director Spike Jonze make a statement about the footage. Here’s what he said:

“that was a very early test with the sole purpose of just getting some footage to Ben our vfx (visual effects) supervisor to see if our vfx plan for the faces would work. The clip doesn’t look or feel anything like the movie, the Wild Thing suit is a very early cringy prototype, and the boy is a friend of ours Griffin who we had used in a Yeah Yeah Yeahs video we shot a few weeks before. We love him, but he is not in the actually film...Oh and that is not a wolf suit, its a lamb suit we bought on the internet. Talk to you later...“

Personally, I can’t wait to see this movie and discover what Spike has done with the material. But the rumors online say the movie has been having some problems, and it might get pushed back till next year. I just hope that isn’t true.

So if you haven’t seen the footage yet, this might be the only stuff you see for awhile. Enjoy it.
