Judd Apatow has set to produce the comedy “The Five Year Engagement,” which will star Jason Segel and will be directed by Nick Stoller.
Segel and Stoller wrote the upcoming “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” together, and the two re-teamed to pen this project. In the film, Segel will portray a man whose relationship with his fiancee has many ups and downs. It will be a comedy in the classic Apatow sense, meaning lots of sex, lots of gross out moments, and a ton of unmistakable intelligence and insight.
Jason Segel is an underrated member of the Judd Apatow posse. He was fantastic in “Freaks and Geeks” and “Undeclared,” and he played an almost creepily sensitive member of Seth Rogen’s entourage in “Knocked Up.” He is also a cast member of CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother,” which is actually a pretty funny show. I’m happy he’s finally getting his due, and hopefully this means we’ll get to see more Jason.
