Part of me wants to feel for author Dan Brown.  That part quickly gets the shit kicked out of it after realizing that he became a multi-millionaire for writing a terrible book.  But with its remaining strength, that sympathetic part explains that Brown, shitty author that he is, clearly had actors in mind when writing his books.  He flat-out says that protagonist Robert Langdon looks like Harrison Ford and when describing the character of Vittoria Vetra in "The Da Vinci Code" prequel "Angels & Demons" he's clearly thinking Penelope Cruz.  But instead he gets Tom Hanks and now Ayelet Zurer who appeared in "Munich" and "Vantage Point".

The "plot" is painfully similar to "Da Vinci" as Langdon and his attractive European female sidekick look for clues left by a secret organization who were persecuted by a well-known institution.  The attractive European female helps Langdon because she wants to know who murdered her father and together they will uncover a massive secret.  They're pursued by a self-indulgent assassin.  Seriously, think how bad "The Da Vinci Code" was and now imagine a first draft of that book and you have "Angels & Demons".

Ron Howard returns to the director's chair to helm this greater shitpile and will inflict it on the world on May 15, 2009.

Click here to hate Dan Brown.
