Yesterday we brought you the news that Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer would be joining the sure-to-be-awful prequel to the decidedly-awful "Da Vinci Code", Dan Brown's "Angels & Demons".  While I think the film will be terrible, it's not a bad career move for Zurer who will increase her visibility by being the female protagonist of a big summer blockbuster that people will see and then hate themselves for seeing, but probably not bear any ill-will towards her personally.

But today Variety is reporting that Ewan McGregor will play "the role of a powerful Vatican insider who assists Langdon."  Maybe he'll give Langdon a heads-up that in the future, he'll be on a mission that is almost identical to what he's doing in this movie.  That would be helpful.

The prequel follows Langdon tracking down Illuminati clues to uncover an assassination attempt on the Pope or some junk.  It's convoluted and no fun.  The boring adventure begins on May 15, 2009.
