Collider Gets a Package from the Joker – THE DARK KNIGHT Viral Campaign
4/26/2008

As most of you know, “The Dark Knight” has been running one hell of a online viral campaign. In fact, I’d say it’s probably the best one I’ve ever watched unfold as it’s been taking place around the world and all at the same time. That’s just not an easy thing to do.

Anyway, while some people have gotten packages from the campaign, today is the first time I’ve gotten something in the mail. As you’ll see in the pictures below, it’s a Joker mask, a poker card and a message saying to go to this website.

Here's what it says when you click on any city:

Gather with 300 of your closest friends at this exact spot on April 28th.

You'll need to be in contact with a partner-in-crime who has online access to relay your instructions once you're there. These instructions will give you the TRAIL to follow, but be sure to look both ways when crossing the street; we wouldn't want you to make an unscheduled visit to the ER now, would we?

Put on a smile and plan to spend about an hour or so bonding with your fellow clowns.

Check back here often for updates or changes.

From the info on the piece of paper and the location for Los Angeles on the website, it’s very clear the end result is a movie theater. While I’m of course guessing, with the new trailer premiering at comic-con last weekend and Warner Bros. saying it’d be released very soon, wouldn’t it make sense for this part of the viral campaign to be showing the new trailer?

While my piece of paper says you’ll need a card to get in, I think regular folks will probably be admitted as well. So if you live in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, New York, Boston, Kansas City, Toronto, San Francisco, Seattle, London or Sao Paolo (Brazil), go to the website above and get the info! I’m sure it’ll be very cool to watch the new trailer or whatever they’re showing with a huge group of die hard fans.

Finally, one last thing. I’ve now spoken with two people that have seen “The Dark Knight” and both of them LOVED the movie. And I don’t mean they said it was good. Both of them said it was amazing, with one telling me it was one of the best films they'd seen in a very long time. I cannot wait.

Enjoy the pictures.
