Leonardo DiCaprio as Ian Fleming?

Leonardo DiCaprio may be set to play James Bond's literary daddy Ian Fleming, according to the LA Times. His production company Appian Way has recently come on board a planned biopic of the legendary author titled "Fleming."
The screenplay, penned by Damian Stevenson, has been in the works for nearly three years at Warner Brothers with Andrew Lazar ("Confessions of a Dangerous Mind") producing. Historical accuracy seemed to be the sticking point up until now - I'm sure that making sure audiences would take to the new, blonde James Bond before green lighting a doc of his author had nothing to do with it.
DiCaprio showed initial interest in "Fleming" during the writer's strike, but he wanted to take the bio in a new direction with a more seasoned writer. Gee, that doesn't seem fair. This Stevenson guy did all the research – let's hear his take on the film before ditching him:
"It's the real James Bond. In England, Ian Fleming's exploits are much better well known. Talking to people out here, no one had any idea that M was based on a real person, Miss Moneypenny was based on a real person."
Oh. "Much better well known" huh? Well, Mister DiCaprio wants a much gooder writer to fix your script, OK? Until then his company is producing only, though it's true, the man likes him some historical acting gigs.
"The Aviator" meets "Casino Royale" here.
