Shooting on "Australia," the LONG awaited follow-up to Baz Luhrman's breakthrough musical "Moulin Rouge," wrapped late in 2007. We got some images from the film back in December but it's been a long wait for the official trailer. Mr. Luhrman is a man who likes to take his time, I'm guessing – because if seven years between films isn't "taking your time" I'm not sure what is.

Well wait no longer Baz fans – the "Australia" trailer is here and if it doesn't exactly blow you away with flying green fairies and indoor trapeze acts it certainly contains enough of Luhrman's distinct visual flair to whet your appetite for the film.

"Australia" has been described as an 'epic adventure' that tells the story of Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman), a British aristocrat who inherits a huge cattle ranch in Northern Australia before the start of World War 2. With rival cattle barons plotting to take her land, Ashley turns to a ranch hand known as "the Drover" (Hugh Jackman) to help her drive her stock across hundreds of miles of the Australian Outback – all that on top of a little war breaking out in the Pacific.

I am a Baz Luhrman fan – I usually don't like musicals but I actually own the "Moulin Rouge" DVD. I also am not afraid of a film painted with the 'epic' brush. They're usually too long and heavy on the cheese factor, but seeing as Luhrman isn't your average director, I'm willing to give "Australia" the benefit of the doubt. I mean, he wouldn't make us wait 7 years for crap – would he?

"Australia" opens November 18, 2008. Click here for HD.
