Sulu is getting Married!

The very day that the ban on same sex marriages was lifted in California, "Star Trek" vet George Takei became the second notable name to declare his intentions to wed. He announced that he and long-time partner Brad Altman would be married on his website Friday afternoon, but he was overshadowed by Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi, who announced their own coming nuptials the same day.
George made his announcement via his blog, which has only ONE entry for all of 2007 – dude, why even have a blog? Oh! I know! So you would have a venue to announce your marriage to the world when California eventually got with the program?
Here is how his message began:
Our California dream is reality. Brad Altman and I can now marry. We are overjoyed! At long last, the barrier to full marriage rights for same-sex couples has been torn down. We are equal with all citizens of our state!
Good for you Sulu! Now you can enjoy the same bone-crushing indignity that the rest of us have come to call "marriage." There is absolutely no reason why homosexuals should be excluded from the fun – spread it around I say!
Takei gave no specific details on the nuptials – like if People Magazine would get the first photos and what their colors would be - you know, wedding stuff. He did however end his message with this:
For now, Brad and I are enjoying the delicious dilemma of deciding where, when, and how we will be married. Marriage equality took a long time, but, like fine wine, its bouquet is simply exquisite.
Wow, makes you wonder how we missed the whole 'Sulu is gay' thing in the first place.
