Variety is reporting from Cannes that Spike Lee is planning to shoot a feature-length documentary about the final two years of Michael Jordan's career, covering the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons. For those that need a quick reminder (I know I did), these were the years he played for the Washington Wizards in order to help drive up sales for the team he co-owned. It's the years that a lot of people tend to ignore because it's like an addendum. You can identify Jordan as a Tar Hell and a Bull but as a Wizard? No one does it.
The flip-side is that no one really knows a lot about it so Lee is covering fresh ground. Furthermore, since Lee is directing, I'm going to expect a real documentary and not just some fluff piece about the legacy of a living legend.
Normally I would include a link to the Variety story, to see why I haven't, read this.
