I love me some Shakespeare. Even truncated, modernized Shakespeare explores universal themes that are as timeless as they are powerful. So I wish the best to the production of "King Lear" just announced at Cannes. The Telegraph is reporting that Keira Knightley will play Lear's youngest daughter Cordelia, Gwyneth Paltrow will play his treacherous middle daughter Regan, and the eldest daughter Goneril, yet to be cast. Anthony Hopkins will play King Lear which is a role worthy of his talents as opposed to another fucking Hannibal Lecter movie.
For those unfamiliar with the plot of King Lear, I'll sum it up as best I can: when a father makes his children fight over who loves him the most, it backfires. Horribly.
