My favorite film of Sundance 2008 is about to hit theaters (in limited release) this week…so get ready for Collider’s Wackness assault!

I’ve got new video interviews with the cast, movie clips, a Wackness contest, and links to all the interviews I did while at this year’s Sundance Film festival. My goal is to spread the content out all week…that way you can try and watch everything. But for those that don't know about the film yet...

"The Wackness" takes place in NYC in the summer of 1994 and it follows an 18 year old pot dealer named Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck). He ends up becoming best friends with a drug using therapist (played brilliantly by Ben Kingsley) and he falls for his stepdaughter. The film does an amazing job at portraying all the characters in a real way, and it’s such a great coming of age story that I think audiences everywhere will love it. Plus, when you see Ben Kingsley hitting a bong, it’s a sight to behold.

The film is also great for the way it captures NYC during that hot summer and for the way it mixes in early 90’s references without making them seemed forced. A great moment is Josh Peck (the 18 year old pot dealer) getting ready to play his Nintendo NES. He takes the cartridge and blows on it before putting the game into the system. If you’ve ever played the NES…you understand that moment. The film is loaded with stuff like that.

Also, words cannot do justice to how amazing Ben Kingsley is as a pot smoking therapist. It’s a performance that has to be seen.

While this summer is loaded with big budget special effects movies and many films that will be forgotten…"The Wackness" is a gem that you have to seek out and discover. I promise…if you see this movie you will not regret it.

And if you don’t believe my thoughts on the film….go to any other website and read another review. You’ll see that "The Wackness" is one of those rare films that’s struck a nerve with almost everyone that’s seen it. Trust me, everyone can relate to what Luke Shapiro is going through… and that’s why we’re all so passionate about the film.

But if you need a sample right now before you'll buy a full serving…here’s 8 movie clips for you to look at.

And here’s links to the interviews I did while at this year’s Sundance. Just click on the names… Josh Peck and Method ManSir Ben Kingsley and director Jonathan Levine.

One of the best films I've seen this year comes out this week. Don't miss it.
