Eric Powell's popular comic book series, "The Goon" is coming to the big screen in the most perfect way possible; a full-length animated feature under the production arm of David Fincher. If you're a fan of the series, this is cause for much rejoicing.

The news hits from Mr. Powell himself, who updated thegoon.com with the good word. Few details are known, but CGI animation is a great route to capture the look and feel of the comic. Approaching it's tenth anniversary, "The Goon" paints an amazing world that balances monsters, zombies and psychic seals with gangsters, dock-workers and the pastiche of 30's noir.

Recently, "The Goon" has appeared on big screen backgrounds in both "The Mist" and "Superbad" in poster and comic form and -- in the series -- has crossed over with Dark Horse golden child Hellboy (in which he teams with The Goon against the Communist Airborne Mollusk Militia. If that doesn't doesn't get you out to the comic shop, I don't know what will.)
