PRODIGY to the Max

Hollywood Reporter has word that 19 year-old Max Thieriot will star in Chuck Russell's upcoming flick "Prodigy". There, he'll take on the tragic role of the early internet service provider that just didn't make it. (Not really).
The film is actually based on the novel of the same title by Dave Kalstein, who took over screenplay duties as well. The book tells the story of a 2036 future-school where youngsters are genetically enhanced and trained to be world leaders. Then mysterious murders happen and it's all downhill from there. Thieriot will play William Cooley (hopefully the coolest kid in school), an on-the-verge-of-graduating senior who is suspected of said mysterious murders and is forced to prove his innocence and uncover a secret conspiracy.
"GATTACA" meets "Minority Report" would sound a lot more exciting if Chuck Russell weren't the directorial force behind "Prodigy". His track record ("Eraser", "Bless the Child" and "The Scorpion King", for example) reads like the textbook definition of filmic mediocrity.
