For those just tuning in, "I Love You Phillip Morris" is based on the real life events of con artist and impostor Steven Jay Russell. While incarcerated, Russell fell in love with his cell mate, Phillip Morris. After Morris was released from prison, Russell escaped from prison four times in order be reunited with Morris.  Awwww.
