This poster is a BODY OF LIES

Most people won't give a second thought to the tagline on this poster for "Body of Lies". They'll see that it stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe in a film by Ridley Scott. There's so much pedigree on this film, they didn't have room to include that it's written by William Monahan who won Best Adapted Screenplay for "The Departed". But the tagline makes no sense: "Trust no one. Deceive everyone." Yeah, it sounds cool, but deception is based on being able to trust that others will believe your lies. If you can't trust people to be manipulated, then what's the point?
While you mull over the logistical, ethical, and philosophical quandaries presented by a tagline on a movie poster, you can check out said poster below. For those just tuning in, here's a brief synopsis of the plot:
CIA operative Roger Ferris (DiCaprio) is sent to Jordan to find a high-ranking terrorist. While in Jordan, the operative forms an uneasy alliance with Ed Hoffman (Crowe), the head of Jordan's covert operations.
"Body of Lies" hits theatres on October 10th.
