Ridley Scott Officially Directing MONOPOLY

So about a year ago, I made a joke about how Ridley Scott was attached to too many projects and how he had mentioned that he was interested in adapting the popular board game "Monopoly" into a motion picture.  To quote myself, "And don't forget about that time he said that the board game Monopoly might make a good movie.  Although I think he was just fucking with us on that last one."

Today we learn that no, Ridley Scott was not fucking with us.  He really is going to direct a movie based on "Monopoly".  Apparently he had a nightmare of having free time on his hands and decided to do anything that would keep him busy.  And if you thought this idea wasn't dumb enough just on its surface, then let me share this juicy detail with you:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott wants to give the project "a futuristic sheen along the lines of his iconic 'Blade Runner'".  Oh good, he won't just be making one terrible movie, but crap all over one of his previous good movies as well.  There's got to be a better way to trash your career.

In the coming weeks, I'm sure we'll be reporting that Russell Crowe will be undergoing an intense physical transformation to play Mr. Monopoly and that Leonardo DiCaprio is in talks to play the thimble.
