If I'm excited for Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland", it's not because of dependable elements like Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, or any of the supporting players. It's because it has Mia Wasikowska as the title character. Her performance on the first season of HBO's "In Treatment" was some of the best television of last year and I hope that this title role will allow her to break out and join the ranks of Hollywood's talented young actresses.
Today we have the first look at her from Disney's new magazine, D23 (via fansite The Tim Burton Collective) and while I find Disney's decision to go into print absolutely bizarre, this is a great first look at the character as she stares down the renowned Rabbit Hole. Also, as one astute poster on the TBC board point out, Alice's dress has bunnies on it. Very nice.
