I’m a pretty big Will Ferrell fan. Not so much of his dramedy roles, but in movies like “Old School,” or “Talladega Nights,” when he goes for the laughs, I think he's great.
Which leads me to his summer ‘08 movie, “Step Brothers.” Since they only wrapped filming a few weeks ago, you probably haven’t heard of the movie. Here’s the synopsis:
In the film Will plays Brennan Huff, a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old who lives with his mother, Nancy (Mary Steenburgen). John C. Reilly plays Dale Doback, a terminally unemployed forty-year-old who lives with his father, Robert (Richard Jenkins). When Robert and Nancy marry and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live with each other as step brothers. As their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart, these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane, elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. To pull it off, they must form an unlikely bond that maybe, just maybe, will finally get them out of the house. The screenplay is by Will Ferrell & Adam McKay from a story by Will Ferrell & Adam McKay & John C. Reilly.
As you can see from the image below, this movie looks like comedy gold. Also, director Adam McKay is extremely funny and the last time they all paired up we got the very funny “Talladega Nights.” So if you liked that film, there is a good chance you’ll like the new one. Anyway, here’s the first official image from the movie. “Step Brothers” arrives on July 25th, 2008.
