THE SPIRIT Gets a New Trailer that Doesn’t Suck

Let’s not pretend the buzz for Frank Miller’s “The Spirit” has been good. It hasn’t. Ever since Comic-Con, I’ve heard mounting online and offline buzz that the movie looks and feels like a cartoon and the final result isn’t what the fans are expecting.
That’s probably all true. The movie isn’t a typical comic book film.
After all, the material it’s based on is quite old, and Frank Miller clearly has a style he was going for and it’s a mix of old and new.
When I saw the first trailer – which was terrible, btw – I immediately felt like this would be Frank’s only film in the director’s chair for a long time as it looked like it had missed the mark in every possible way. But I have to say, this new trailer looks GREAT. While the film still looks cartoony, at least it is unlike all the other comic book movies. And yeah, I know a lot of you are just going to say it looks like “Sin City.”
It does.
And so what?
“Sin City” was a great looking film, but it was R. “The Spirit” is aiming to snare a larger more mainstream audience, and while many might complain about the look or feel of the film, how can you not root for Frank Miller and hope the film turns out great. This is the genius behind so many comic books that people revere, I think we should all hold back the venom and wait till we see what he created in it's final form.
But that’s just me.
If you were like me and thought the first trailer looked bad, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by this one. Check it out in HD here.
