TV News Summer Glau Cast Dons THE CAPE, Katherine Heigl Exits GREYS ANATOMY, and Betty White Finds Herself in THE MIDDLE.jpg

Today we have three of television’s finest female actors at three very different stages in their careers.  Constantly poised to break out beyond her current cult stardom, Summer Glau has nabbed the lead role in the pilot for NBC’s superhero hourlong, The Cape.  Over on ABC, the outspoken Katherine Heigl has already gotten her big break, and so is eager to abandon her post on the hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy to pursue her blossoming film career.  Meanwhile, internet darling Betty White continues to enjoy a recent resurgence in the twilight of her career, earning a role in the season finale of family sitcom The Middle.

As a science fiction nerd, I was onboard Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles at the word “Terminator”.  The show focuses on the bond between Sarah and her son John as they work together with the first cute Terminator, Cameron, to stave off Armageddon.  Were they successful?  Was it entertaining?  More after the jump.

Is Summer Glau Going to Play in Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE?

dollhouse_summer_glau_01.jpgI stopped watching “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” after the first season not because I thought the show was bad, but simply because I didn’t really have time to fit it into my schedule and didn’t love it enough to make time.  Apparently, that was a mistake on my part because according to trusted friends, the show got ridiculously good in its second season.  And so, naturally, Fox made sure to cancel it.  The only benefit from this is that it may have freed up Summer Glau to jump over to the Friday night genre show that survived: Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse” which finally started to find its way after a rocky start.

Talking to Michael Ausiello over at EW.com, Whedon says he’s already trying to come up with a part for her but NOT an Active. “I’d rather see her play someone who talks too much. The most fun I have is when I get somebody who’s good and comfortable at doing something, and then I make them do something else. Summer said to me, ‘I would like to play a normal girl before I die of extreme old age.’”  And it’s because Whedon realizes things like this is partially why we love him so much.  Hopefully we’ll get to see Summer playing a normal girl whenever “Dollhouse” begins its second season.
