FunnyOrDie hosted a live Q&A online with writer/producer/director Judd Apatow. At one point during the Q&A, Apatow was asked if he had any plans for sequels to the hit movies Superbad and Pineapple Express both of which co-starred Seth Rogen who also co-wrote the script with writing partner Evan Goldberg. Apatow says it’s highly unlikely they would ever do a sequel to Superbad because Rogen and Goldberg don’t want to ruin the original. As for Pineapple Express, Apatow goes a little further and says they might do a sequel but right now there’s nothing planned. Finally, Apatow does explain that he’s not opposed to building off previous films as the upcoming Get Him to the Greek is a spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall starring Russell Brand’s character Aldous Snow.
But let’s take a moment for some perspective. If you watch the clip where he Apatow responds to the question, which we’ve included after the jump, you’ll see that he cuts it with a lot of humor and some slight mockery. You’re not going to see a lot of enthusiasm from him and it’s pretty clear he has only given the idea the slightest consideration. We should be grateful for this because we’re already inundated with sequels so why would you want more? Don’t you trust Apatow, Rogen, and Goldberg to make original comedies? Let’s admit that Superbad and Pineapple Express aren’t films which require the franchise treatment. That being said, if Rogen and Goldberg’s latest film, The Green Hornet, scores big at the box office, asking about a sequel won’t be out of the question; it will be the question.

Yesterday we showed you a behind-the-scenes look at an action scene being filmed right now for Michel Gondry’s “The Green Hornet” starring Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, and Christoph Waltz. We’ve also shown you the van from Joe Carnahan’s “The A-Team” looking like, well, a van.
But today we’ve got some must see behind-the-scenes shots from “The Green Hornet” and “The A-Team”. Someone took some great photos of Rogen (and it’s definitely Rogen because you can see his stunt guy in the background) and Chou in their hero get-ups and Rogen’s weight-loss really paid off because that suit suits him fine. As for “The A-Team”, the first shot of the team together has landed online and it’s a bit surreal to see Liam Neeson with white hair or Sharlto Copley standing next to Bradley Cooper. Hit the jump and see these exciting set photos from both films. [Update: We've added some more photos from the A-Team]

I think this unofficial set footage from Michel Gondry’s “The Green Hornet” starring Seth Rogen makes a very good case for video blogs. Unless you want your film super-secret, it’s better to make official video blogs because then the filmmakers and the studio can present footage in context, choose how much they want to show, and bring traffic to the movie’s website rather than some one else who was sent video from a camcorder. I wonder if Sony is slightly frustrated that they didn’t get to put out the first look at Rogen in his “Green Hornet” outfit (unless that’s a stuntman; then everything is okay).
Check out the video after the jump. “The Green Hornet” hits theaters on December 17th, 2010.

You can now buy your 4 day Comic-Con 2010 pass now for $100. Sure, Comic-Con is still almost an year away, but I can guarantee you that it’s safer to buy your passes as early as you can before it’s too late. I’ve never been to the mecca of all things geek, but I do know that it’s a pain to get a pass and that passes were already selling out 3 months in advance this year. I only expect it to get more difficult this year as Comic-Con only gets more popular each year. If you know you are already going for sure, then why not get your passes now? If something comes up there is always Ebay and people who were not as smart as you and waited until the Con was six months away.

One of the more interesting things that happened this past week in movie news was the news that Nicolas Cage had dropped out of playing the villain in “The Green Hornet” even though filming had already begun. http://www.collider.com/2009/09/08/nicolas-cage-flies-away-from-the-green-hornet/ The actor was then replaced a couple of days later by “Inglourious Basterds’”‘ Christoph Waltz http://www.collider.com/2009/09/14/inglourious-basterds-christoph-waltz-is-playing-the-villain-in-the-green-hornet/ and the internet was happy. It was being rumored that Cage had dropped out because of money issues but the actor has now cleared up everything. To find out why Cage dropped out just click on the jump.

Talk about trading up. Last week we reported that Nicolas Cage had dropped out of “The Green Hornet” and it wasn’t the worst news in the world but it did open the door to who would replace him. Well those who dared to dream big and outside the box just got their wish. Christoph Waltz, who plays the terrifying and unforgettable Hans Landa in Quentin Taranatino’s “Inglourious Basterds”, and if there’s any justice will be the owner of a Best Supporting Actor Oscar by the time “Green Hornet” hits theaters next December. Cut the tension and hit the jump.

I feel really bad for “The Green Hornet”. I know that it’s just a movie and that it has no emotions what so ever, but I can’t help but feel bad for the poor ol’ film. I’m sure you guys have been following the problematic production for the past year or so and now that things finally looked like it was going to get better, we now get news that Nicolas Cage, who was set to play the film’s villain, has dropped out. This doesn’t look too good for the film since the film just started principal photography last week. You can read more details when you hit the jump.

With all of the setbacks and delays that have hit the Seth Rogen/Evan Goldberg adaptation of “The Green Hornet” over the past year I was beginning to believe that the film was an urban legend of some sort - or an elaborate prank. Luckily a bunch of photos appeared online this weekend that prove that the “The Green Hornet” movie is no joke. What else can be gleaned from the photos? Hit the jump to find out.

I saw “Tron Legacy” footage in 3D at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con and it blew over 6,000 minds. Correction: I saw “Tron Legacy” test-footage in 3D and it blew over 6,000 minds. At the time of the presentation, they had almost wrapped filming which means they might have a year and a half of post production on the film since Disney has just announced that it’s going to hit screens on December 17th, 2010. Hit the jump to find out who’s gonna take it on.

Anyone who’s followed the progress of the big screen adaption of pulp hero and cult icon, “The Green Hornet” knows that the property has been repeatedly beset by hurdles and setbacks, from Kevin Smith abandoning the project a few years ago, to the more recent departure of Stephen Chow, first from the director’s chair and finally from the role of driver/sidekick, Kato. Well word has it that the flick has yet again been delayed as its July 7, 2010 release date has been moved back five months to December 17, 2010. More after the jump:

Now that we know who will be playing Kato in Seth Rogen’s masked crime-fighter flick, “The Green Hornet”, director Michel Gondry is turning his attention to the film’s supporting cast. According to Hollywood Snitch, one of those (as yet unspecified) supporting roles will be played by Edward James Olmos of “Battlestar Galactica” and “Stand and Deliver” fame. “Hornet”, which co-stars Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz, begins shooting this month for a planned July 2010 release date. We’ll fill you in as we learn more.

You have to admire the drive and dedication of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and all the producers of “The Green Hornet” for refusing to give up on getting the film made. I think others, faced with the constant obstacles and potentially negative press because of those problems (because if production isn’t 100% smooth, then it deserves destruction), they would just wash their hands of it. But even the challenge to find a new Kato, The Green Hornet’s sidekick who does a lot of kicking, after Stephen Chow dropped out, has been solved by signing Jay Chou to the project.
Learn about Jay Chou after the jump.

Okay, at this point, if Sony doesn’t have some kind of Hall H-”The Green Hornet” surprise at their panel on Saturday (Sony also has a panel on Friday but that’s going to have “District 9″ and Peter Jackson so they don’t really need it as much as they need a big finish after “Zombieland” and “2012″ on Saturday), I’ll be surprised at their lack of providing a surprise. I say all this because the studio just announced that at 8:30PM tomorrow at the Sony Booth #4313, star Seth Rogen will unveil the car from his upcoming film “The Green Hornet” - the Black Beauty. You know, because the exhibitors floor isn’t ridiculously crowded already, it’s definitely a good idea to put Seth Rogen out there where he’ll be devoured by adoring fans.
While there’s no word yet whether fellow Comic-Con attendee (for “Kick-Ass”) and recent “Green Hornet”-joiner Nicholas Cage will be doing any “Green Hornet”-related events, I wouldn’t be surprised (until I saw it, squealed like a little schoolgirl, and blogged about it as quickly as possible).

With director Michel Gondry supposedly just days away from beginning principal photography on “The Green Hornet”, Variety is reporting that Nic Cage is in talks to play the film’s villain opposite Seth Rogen as the titular masked crime fighter. Let’s hope they talk fast. No news on the name or nature of this villain so that means that we still don’t know much about “The Green Hornet” other than its title and the fact that it was written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. That would have been enough to ensure its awesomeness a year ago but a lot of weird has happened to the production since then. More after the jump…

Originally reported by SpoilerTV last week and now confirmed by CHUD, it looks like Stephen Chow is officially out of Michel’s Gondry adaptation of “The Green Hornet”. With Rogen playing the titular hero, Chow was slated to play the Hornet’s sidekick “Kato”, a role played in the 1966 TV series by the legendary Bruce Lee. “Hornet” would have also marked Chow’s first appearance in a mainstream, major Hollywood film. Sadly, if Chow comes to rule these shores, we’ll have to wait as, according to CHUD, he had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict. Hit the jump for more on “Green Hornet’s” odd flight to the big screen.

Entertainment Weekly is currently reporting that Cameron Diaz is in early negotiations to play the female lead in Michel’s Gondry’s upcoming adaptation of “The Green Hornet” starring Seth Rogen and Stephen Chow. The film is set to start filming in the next few weeks with a planned release date of July 9th, 2010. Hit the jump for my thoughts on casting Diaz.
