Alan Arkin is an extremely versatile character actor who has made a lengthy career out of roles in both drama and comedy. During a recent interview, the 75-year-old New Yorker revealed that he just completed a role opposite Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. in the 2010 comedy Due Date (directed by Todd Phillips), about a high-strung father-to-be who is forced to hitch a ride with a college slacker on a road trip, in order to make it to his child’s birth on time. After the jump, read what he had to say about that experience, as well as what he now looks for in a role:

So when “The Soloist” meets “The Hangover”, I guess you get Todd Phillips’ “Due Date” because Jamie Foxx has just signed on to co-star with Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. If you told me at the beginning of the year that I would see this kind of combination, I would accuse you of having wishful and really random thinking but I guess the joke’s on me. Hit the jump for more details.

Warner Home Video has finally announced “The Hangover” on DVD and Blu-ray. For fans of the biggest R-rated comedy of all time (you read that right), you’ll be happy to know the film hits DVD/Blu-ray on December 15th and it’s got a decent amount of extras. For what’s included, hit the jump:

Ever since “Old School” became a hit back in 2003, there have been whispers of the cast reuniting and doing a sequel. Unfortunately, the more time that passes, the less of a chance it’s ever going to happen.
But even though the chances are slim, whenever I interview someone from the film, I always ask about the sequel. And since I covered the “Couples Retreat” international press day for our partners at Omelete earlier today, I had the chance to speak with Vince Vaughn during a roundtable interview. What he said about “Old School 2″ and what he’s doing next is after the jump.

Michelle Monaghan is in negotiations to co-star alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis in director Todd Phillips’ new comedy, “Due Date”. The actress will portray Downey Jr.’s pregnant wife in the film; a reunion of sorts for the pair that last shared the screen in 2005’s “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”. Details after the jump.

In what will probably be the breakout performance of the year, comedian/actor Zach Galifianakis now has his choice of projects, but one of them he’s less-than-excited for is a potential sequel to “The Hangover”. It’s not that he won’t do it, but he has his concerns and they’re legitimate. Hit the jump to see why he’s not immediately jumping back on board.

Following the mind-blowing success of “The Hangover” (the film had earned $210 million domestically as of Wednesday), director Todd Phillips is set to make two more features for Warner Brothers, the studio he has made so very, very happy. He will first begin production on “Due Date”, a road trip comedy reteaming him with Zach Galifianakis, on October 6th with a release date set for the first week of June 2010. Phillips will then get busy on “The Hangover 2″ with the sequel penciled in for Memorial Day weekend of 2011. More details on “Due Date” after the jump…
If Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Bruno” and Judd Apatow’s “Funny People” weren’t hurtling towards us, then I could safely say that Todd Phillips’ “The Hangover” is the funniest film of the year. But even acknowledging the comedic skills of Cohen and Apatow, they have a very high bar to clear against Phillips’ unashamed raunchy guy humor that would pause for a moment of affection if it gave a shit about that touchy-feely crap. “The Hangover” is rude, loud, obnoxious, and painfully hilarious.
I don’t know what else I can say about director Todd Philips “The Hangover”. I’ve already told you it’s laugh out loud funny. I’ve already said you absolutely need to see it this weekend so people don’t ruin all the jokes. Also, everyone’s going to be talking about this movie next week, and you’ll want to be able to join in the conversation.
Again, this film is the real deal and Todd’s best work since “Old School”.
Anyhow, a little over a week ago I was in Las Vegas for the press junket and I got to interview Todd one on one. During our ten or so minutes we talked about making the film, being back in Vegas, how great a studio Warner Bros. is to work for, what he might do next, and we talked about one of the great gags in the movie. It’s a fantastic interview and one I think you’ll enjoy. Take a look after the jump:
When I woke up this morning I was at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas attending the press junket for the VERY funny Warner Bros. movie “The Hangover”. While I’ll have interviews with the cast and filmmakers in the coming days, I was provided with a bunch of movie clips and a featurette, so I wanted to post those now.
Since I’ve gone on and on about this movie when I posted my set visit about a month ago, let’s get right to why you’re here - the clips.
As you’re about to see, this movie is all about what happens when you go to Vegas and have a crazy time. And for the two that haven’t heard about “The Hangover”, I’ve included the synopsis after the jump:
