Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifainakis is great. We already knew that. But up until now, he’s mainly interviewed actors known for their dramatic work or at least not known primarily for comedy (the exception being the first episode with Michael Cera). But in this new episode he sits down with two gentlemen who have been making folks laugh for their entire professional careers: The Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien and announcer Andy Richter. However, Conan soon finds that his cute string dance and self-deprecating remarks will not save him. On the contrary, they are his hilarious demise and the stone-faced Galifianakis makes this new “interview” his best one yet. I’m still coughing from a joke that made me literally fall out of my chair laughing.

When you’ve created one of the most critically acclaimed and most-watched TV shows on the air today, you have some freedom to write your own ticket. Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner will use that freedom to make his feature debut with the romantic comedy You Are Here starring Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper, and Zach Galifianakis. According to Variety, Weiner first wrote the film during his days as a writer on The Sopranos and was planning to spend of his Mad Men hiatus to direct the film. However, scheduling issues regarding the next season of Mad Men have pushed You Are Here into 2011 but apparently Aniston, Cooper, and Galifianakis will juggle their schedules once the film has a firm start date.

I’m still in awe of how Zach Galifianakis, a terrific stand-up comedian who mostly unknown in the American mainstream, has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood after his performance in “The Hangover”. Even better, his performance in that film is true to his style of comedy. I never felt that he was trying to be something he wasn’t.
I’m trying to keep this in mind as I read the news that he may be voicing the role of Humpty Dumpty in the upcoming “Shrek” spin-off, “Puss in Boots”. Hit the jump for details.

I do love it when two of my favorite Hollywood actors decide to work together. Both Zach Galifianakis and Amy Adams are very funny and sexy (more Galifianakis than Adams on both counts) but I would’ve never thought to pair them in a movie. But it looks like they’ll be moving into “Once” director John Carney’s “Town House”. Hit the jump for details about how this amazing pairing are signing on to what sounds like an awful movie.

While we assumed we had already received our monthly casting fix for “Dinner for Schmucks” with the news of Bruce Greenwood and David Walliams joining the cast a couple weeks ago, it turns out that everyone wants a seat at the table for Jay Roach’s upcoming comedy, “Dinner for Schmucks”. The latest addition to the party is Ron Livingston who joins Greenwood, Walliams, and leads Zach Galifianakis, Paul Rudd, and Steve Carell. Hit the jump for more details.

With each month comes a new “Dinner for Schmucks” casting decision. In August Zach Galifianakis signed on board; in September, Stephanie Szostak came onboard as the female lead; and now Bruce Greenwood and David Walliams are having a seat. Greenwood will play a billionaire and Walliams a Swiss banker Paul Rudd tries to impress. More on the actors and film after the jump.

So when “The Soloist” meets “The Hangover”, I guess you get Todd Phillips’ “Due Date” because Jamie Foxx has just signed on to co-star with Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. If you told me at the beginning of the year that I would see this kind of combination, I would accuse you of having wishful and really random thinking but I guess the joke’s on me. Hit the jump for more details.

Michelle Monaghan is in negotiations to co-star alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis in director Todd Phillips’ new comedy, “Due Date”. The actress will portray Downey Jr.’s pregnant wife in the film; a reunion of sorts for the pair that last shared the screen in 2005’s “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”. Details after the jump.

The Weinstein Company has just announced they’re moving “Youth in Revolt” to January 15, 2010 from their previously announced October release date. While moving a release is sometimes the sign of a troubled film or production, I saw a screening a few days ago at the Toronto Film Festival and have to say…it’s a great movie. The film is based on acclaimed novel by C.D. Payne and it’s the story of Nick Twisp - a teen with a taste for the finer things in life like Sinatra and Fellini - and he’s played by Michael Cera. Actually, I posted a video blog about the movie yesterday where I sang the films praises. For more on the film and why it probably moved, hit the jump:

The Bearded One, a.k.a. Bo, knows funny. Zach Galifianakis is nearing a deal to star in “It’s Kind of a Funny Story,” the next film from “Half-Nelson” writer-directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden. If he signs, “Story” would be the fourth film to feature Galifianakis coming out in the next few years, not counting his small role in Jason Reitman’s much talked about “Up in the Air.” He has already started filming Todd Phillips’ “Due Date” and is scheduled to shoot both Jay Roach’s “Dinner with Schmucks” and the sequel “Hangover 2″ (with Phillips again) next year. If you want to know more about Galifianakis’ newest project, sit yourself down between two ferns and hit the jump.

Have you seen the previous installments of Zach Galifianakis’ brilliant comedy sketch, “Between Two Ferns”? No? Well, you read Collider so obviously you saw the one he did with his “Hangover” co-star Bradley Cooper. Okay, I’m done trying to convince you to watch his latest “interview” with Charlize Theron where they talk about her name, her love of animals, and the chemistry he feels between the Oscar winner and himself. Once again, with the Toronto Film Festival set to begin in a few weeks, I’ve been provided with a ton of new images from the many films that are premiering at the festival. So rather than waste any time, after the jump take a look at new images “Jennifer’s Body”, “The Road” and “Youth in Revolt”. All three look like they could be really good.

My favorite bearded comedian, Zach Galifianakis, has joined Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and Lucy Punch in “Dinner for Schmucks.” According to Variety, he will play the assistant manager of a mattress store who is dating Carell’s ex-wife. Galifianakis’ starpower seems to rise by the day, as do his roles. More after the jump.

I’m not sure what to make of this one. It’s obvious that Michael Cera needs to branch out if he’s going to keep a steady career going, and he’s certainly doing that with “Youth in Revolt.” Cera plays a 16-year-old who desperately wants his “dream girl,” Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday), to notice him. As any sane person would do, he creates a bad-ass alter-ego for himself who can get the job done and secure the girl. Check out the trailer after the jump.

In what will probably be the breakout performance of the year, comedian/actor Zach Galifianakis now has his choice of projects, but one of them he’s less-than-excited for is a potential sequel to “The Hangover”. It’s not that he won’t do it, but he has his concerns and they’re legitimate. Hit the jump to see why he’s not immediately jumping back on board.

In entertainment news this year, one of the major stories is the breakthrough of Zach Galifianakis. There’s always one or two actors who have worked for years in supporting roles but they finally get that smash film and performance that highlights their abilities and Galifianakis (deservedly) had that in this summer’s “The Hangover”, a film which has just crossed the $200 million mark at the box office.
So the question now becomes what Galifianakis does next. The Hollywood Reporter says that he’s currently circling three projects: pregnancy-themed comedy “Due Date”, another comedy called “Say Uncle (both of which are produced by “Hangover” director Todd Phillips), and the supernatural comedy “Man Witch” which would have Galifianakis attending an all-girls witch school when he discovers he has special powers. There’s also the potential for another comedy in the form of a “Hangover” sequel, but like “Old School 2″, that may end up something heavily discussed but never to be.
